Winners Take Control

The key to winning is to get the best of it and make the most out of it. That means exploiting an edge to your maximum advantage whenever possible.

Winners get the best of it by being brutally honest about their play, being brutally realistic about the results they can obtain, focusing on the long term and acting like a winner.

Be decisive in your play. Losers are decisive, but impulsive. They go on a whim, a feel or a panic. Winners are decisive by analyzing every decision and then strongly acting on it. Yes, that includes folding – with confidence that it was the right play.

Acting decisively also can used in game selection, seat selection, controlling emotions, working on improvements, and deciding when to play and when to quit a session.

Winners control the things they can and ignore the things they cannot – like the turn of a card, for instance.

Other ways of taking control involve being selectively aggressive, pushing a rush and adjusting to changes at the table.

Taking control means accepting the fact that you have to “pay your dues.” You have to understand that you are not “entitled” to win. And the hard facts are that “suck outs” and “bad beats” keep the tables full.

If bad beats never happened, all that would be left for you to play poker against would be Phil Ivey, Dan Negreanu, Tom Dwan, Patrick Antonious, LittleRedElf, Fourbetbluff and Boother36 and K9isadog. Go ahead – take the 9th seat at that table.

PS: This entire article needs to be tattooed on Faldo’s arm so I can re-read it when I play. Heal thy self I think is the correct terminology.

Dear Concerned American,

With willing one-world accomplices in Washington, D.C., gun-grabbers around the globe believe they have it made.

In fact, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just announced the Obama Administration would be working hand in glove with the U.N. to pass a new “Small Arms Treaty."

Disguised as legislation to help in the fight against “terrorism,” “insurgency” and “international crime syndicates,” the U.N.’s Small Arms Treaty is nothing more than a massive, GLOBAL gun control scheme.

If passed by the U.N. and ratified by the U.S. Senate, the U.N.’s Small Arms Treaty would almost certainly FORCE national governments to:

•Enact tougher licensing requirements, making law-abiding citizens cut through even more bureaucratic red tape just to own a firearm legally;
•CONFISCATE and DESTROY ALL “unauthorized” civilian firearms (all firearms owned by the government are excluded, of course);
•BAN the trade, sale and private ownership of ALL semi-automatic weapons;
•Create an INTERNATIONAL gun registry, setting the stage for full-scale gun CONFISCATION.
Are you outraged? Do you want answers? Then please scroll down and fill out the Firearms Sovereignty Survey the National Association for Gun Rights has prepared for you putting yourself squarely on record AGAINST the U.N. Small Arms Treaty!

Once you submit your survey, please consider a generous donation of $100, $50 or $25 to the National Association for Gun Rights so we can fight for your gun rights and defeat the U.N. Small Arm's Treaty.

Sincerely,

Congressman
