Douge2’s Humor Corner – XXXX

#6
My wife and I are watching Who Wants To Be A Millionaire while we were in bed.
I turned to her and said, 'Do you want to have sex?'
'No,' she answered.
I then said, 'Is that your final answer?'
She didn't even look at me this time, simply saying 'Yes.'
So I said, 'Then I'd like to phone a friend.'
And that's how the fight started....

#7
When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive.
So, I took her to a gas station.
And that's how the fight started.....

#8
I tried to talk my wife into buying a case of Miller Light for $14.95. Instead, she bought a jar of cold cream for $7.95. I told her the beer would make her look better at night than the cold cream.
And that's how the fight started.....

#9
My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table.
My wife asked, 'Do you know her?'
'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.'
'My God!' says my wife. 'Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?'
And that's how the fight started.....

#10
I rear-ended a car this morning. So, there we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car.
You know how sometimes you just get soooo stressed and little things just seem funny?
Yeah, well I couldn't believe it. He was a DWARF!!!
He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!!!'
So, I looked down at him and said, 'Well, then which one are you?'
And that's how the fight started.....

#11
I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first.
'I'll have the strip steak, medium rare, please.'
He said, 'Aren't you worried about the mad cow?'
'Nah, she can order for herself.'
And that's how the fight started.....

Please remember on this Memorial Weekend that:

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the community organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.

We owe all of our veterans our undying thanks and respect.

The best way to show your thankfulness for the freedoms we have, and to honor the memory of the sacrifices our military have made for us, is to STOP voting our freedoms away.

A blind man locked in a coal chute can see that the Democrats are socialists and communists.

If you ever vote Democrat again, you might as well spit on every veteran from George Washington to the new recruit in boot camp.

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone, and God bless and save America. - Faldo

Odds2win777 Wins His 1st NPP Tourney

Odds2win777 played spoiler tonight, denying much needed points to the standing leaders, by hogging them all by winning against a 20 person field. He is the 55th person to win an NPP event.

And, as you will see, Wingsfancurt takes over the league lead by one point over WSOP bound T3chlady.

Your humble scribe had a bad night – in more ways than one – so my reporting is shaky. I did not see much of Odds2win’s victory, so can’t comment on it.

I had computer issues, internet issues, neighbor stopping by issues, toughest table ever assembled in NPP history issues – and the worst of all – wife failing to deliver beer in less than 8 seconds of order. Intolerable!

We welcomed back Aqualung85 to the table, and he got the usual “early exit” greeting we give to everyone.

On to the action:

How would you feel if after wrestling with computer issues in a panic so you can get to the tourney on time, you get to your table to find Suetman1, ThePunk75, Theedouble*d, xxxKdogxxx and LittleRedElf sitting there waiting for you??? I should have hit the “sit out” button and lasted longer.

13 min: Aqualung85 (20th) loses a coin flip with (88) to Wingsfancurt’s (AQ) with a [Q} on the river.

14 min: Derf-63 (19th)
29 min: Wingsfancurt and his (66) take out Funtoon (18th) (AJ), Suetman1 (AJ) (17th) and he cripples ThePunk75 (AK).

30 min: ThePunk75 (16th) has to go with (Ac 9c). LittleRedElf calls with (Kc Tc), and hits a [K] on the flop.

32 min: Fourbetbluff (13th)
42 min: xxxKdogxxx (14th)
45 min: Mikeniks-Faldo (13th) has to go with (AA), but runs into Theedouble*d with (QQ) and a flopped [Q].

49 min: Yecats427 (12th)
53 min: Tomservo2 (11th)
59 min: T3chlady (10th)

1st break:
Theedouble*d 12010

Douge2 2080
K9isadog 1695
Pre01 1155
Absea98 540

63 min: Absea98 (9th) has top pair and a straight draw with (AT), but Wingsfancurt already flopped two pair (KT) and held on.

70 min: Pre01 (8th) is double-teamed.
83 min: A SS Tigercub8189 (7th) goes with (AQ), but loses the coin flip to Theedouble*d with his (88).

85 min: LittleRedElf (6th) goes with (AQ), but Odds2win777 has (Qd Jd) and a [J] flopped.

88 min: K9isadog (5th) loses a coin flip (AK) to Odds2win (55).
102 min: Douge2 (4th) I lost my internet completely at this point.
110 min: Wingsfancurt (3rd, and with this finish, takes over 1st place in the second quarter standings!

2nd Break:
Theedouble*d 19765
Odds2win777 10235

Two NPP’ers Take on the Heartland Poker Tour

Faldo will let them tell it:

From Fourbetbluff:

Just sending a good tournament result. As I have been away from the NPP Tuesday night felt due to nice weather, father duties, and playing live poker.

I had a big weekend trying to qualify for the Heartland Poker Tour. In a $180 qualifier top 10% advance we had 84 players sending 8 players to the main event. I somehow recovered from early play mishaps, but ended busting in 13th, missing the spots by 5 places again (a repeat from last years $360 qualifier in Gary, IN where I missed by 5 places as well).

I went onto a successful run in the Soaring Eagles poker room playing cash game for a solid 8 hour session.

So last night I played some poker stars and wound up final tabling the $2.20 6-Max ($3K GTD) tourney...I made a mad run, was playing my "A" game 110%.

Was the first player to crest the 1,000,000 chip mark when second place had around 390,000. I maintained that lead to Heads up play out of 2,250 runners in the tournament and a nice PS Payday!

Our heads up started with "Fourbetbluff" 2,530,330 "Villian" 4,335,650 heads up play lasted 45 min. where we both ended up pre flop all in Villian’s AA to my 77 with no help.

See you all Tuesday! -4BB-

And from Boother36:

Well, the run of consecutive final table appearances in the HPT Main Event is over of me. After making the final table for 2 years in a row in 2 tries (finishing in 9th both times), I failed to make a deep enough run at the HPT event this past weekend at Mount Pleasant.

There were a total of 274 entries in the Main Event and the cash started at 30th. We started play at 3PM on Saturday the 22nd and my day came to an end around 9PM in about 85th position.

I was basically card dead the entire tourney, save for a half hour or so where I finally got some cards and was able to work my way up to about chip-average in chip count. After that, the blinds and antes eat me alive.

My final hand was typical for my luck at this event. In the SB I go all in with about 10x the BB with A10 off, get called by the BB with QJ off, and when none of the 4 cards in the hands hit the board, I thought I was ok until the river holds the 4th club and I am out of there!!!

My poker club (Kings of White Lake, aka KOWL) had a total of 4 members in the Main Event. One of our guys made it all the way down to 32nd, just missing out of the cash.

The HPT will be back to Soaring Eagle in November of this year. You fellow NPP players should make your calendars and plan on attending. They have lots of qualifiers in the weeks leading up to the Main Event. The skill level of NPP is certainly good enough to make a serious run in this event!!

Boother36

I could not agree more, Boother. NPP’ers, Faldo will plan to meet with these two guys and find out dates and times. An NPP Team invasion would be fun and profitable! – Faldo

Wingsfancurt Wins his Second 2nd Qtr Tourney and 3rd NPP Win

Wingsfancurt rode some sneaky play and a wave of hot cards to victory, and jumps right back in the race for the 2nd quarter seat.

T3chlady added to her lead by making another final table and finishing 4th.

We welcomed back Pre01 and RKidder51400 tonight also.

On to the action:

7 min: RKidder51400 (21st) got a rude welcome as her (A6) got run down by an (As 4s) flush by xxxKdogxxx.

16 min: xxxKdogxxx (20th) sees his (QT) hit a [Q] on the flop and a [T] on the turn, just to see Meatsword’s (AA) hit the [A] on the river.

18 min: A short-stacked (SS) ThePunk75 (19th) sees his (AJ) get run down by Yecats423’s (A7) and a [7] on the flop.

33 min: The first HOT card for Wingsfancurt as his (A9) runs down Tomservo2’s (18th) (QQ) with a [9] on the turn and an [A] on the river.

42 min: A SS Pre01 (17th) goes with (Qh Th), but can’t run down Yecats423 (AK).

69 min: LittleRedElf (11th).
72 min: Mistermusic5 does a double kill as he takes out Absea98 (10th) and Odds2win777 (9th).

75 min: A SS Mikeniks-Faldo (8th) goes with (A7), but runs into Suetman1’s (77).
77 min: K9isadog (7th).
80 min: Mistermusic5 (6th) sees his (QJ) run into Wingsfancurt’s (AA).
83 min: Funtoon’s (5th) pair of queens loses to Wingsfancurt’s trip 2’s on the river.
92 min: T3chlady (4th) loses with (KK) to the HOT Wingsfancurt’s (A6) with an [A] on the flop.

100 min: Meatsword (3rd) hits two pair on the flop, but is run down by the HOT Wingsfancurt’s flush on the turn. Wow!

Heads up: Wingsfancurt 25300 - 6200 Suetman1

105 min: Wingsfancurt 25700 - 5800 Suetman1

Douge2’s Humor Corner – XXXIX

Wrong diagnosis…

Bubba walked into a doctor's office and the receptionist asked him what he had. Bubba said: 'Shingles.' So she wrote down his name, address, medical insurance number and told him to have a seat.

Fifteen minutes later a nurse's aide came out and asked Bubba what he had. Bubba said, 'Shingles.' So she wrote down his height, weight, a complete medical history and told Bubba to wait in the examining room.

A half hour later a nurse came in and asked Bubba what he had.. Bubba said, 'Shingles.’ So the nurse gave Bubba a blood test, a blood pressure test, an electrocardiogram, and told Bubba to take off all his clothes and wait for the doctor.

An hour later the doctor came in and found Bubba sitting patiently in the nude and asked Bubba what he had. Bubba said, 'Shingles.'

The doctor asked, 'Where?'

Bubba said, 'Outside on the truck. Where do you want me to unload 'em??'

How the fight started…

#1 - One year, a husband decided to buy his mother-in-law a cemetery plot as a Christmas gift.
The next year, he didn't buy her a gift.
When she asked him why, he replied, "Well, you still haven't used the gift I bought you last year!"
And that's how the fight started.....

#2 - My wife walked into the den & asked "What's on the TV?" I replied "Dust".
And that's how the fight started.....

#3 - A woman is standing nude, looking in the bedroom mirror. She is not happy with what she sees and says to her husband, 'I feel horrible; I look old, fat and ugly. I really need you to pay me a compliment.'
The husband replies, 'Your eyesight's damn near perfect.'
And that's how the fight started.....

#4 - My wife was hinting about what she wanted for our upcoming anniversary. She said, 'I want something shiny that goes from 0 to 200 in about 3 seconds.' I bought her a scale.
And that's how the fight started......

#5 - I asked my wife, 'Where do you want to go for our anniversary?'
It warmed my heart to see her face melt in sweet appreciation.
'Somewhere I haven't been in a long time!' she said.
So I suggested, 'How about the kitchen?'
And that's how the fight started....

ThePunk75 Makes Two Final Tables to Faldo’s One

And NO – Faldo is not making up his cashes in 90 – player SNG’s. And NO, Faldo doesn’t save his final tables to share in the spotlight. It is just working out that way. And NO, this is not the same 7th place finish I wrote about a few posts ago – it’s another one.

Ok, on to the real story from ThePunk75:

“I finished 2nd in a $11 1 rebuy/1 add-on PL Omaha tournament last night on PokerStars. The field was 182 people large, and I cashed nearly 20 times my total buy in. I used the rebuy and add-on (twss).

Some highlights. I didn't rebuy off the bat, as I like to wait and hold off and use the rebuy as an additional add-on at the break. About a half an hour into the tournament I had to use my rebuy as my AAxx got run down. So I re-bought and nearly immediately tripled up. Flopped a full house twice and got chipped up.

After the break I continued to chip up and got up to 40k, when I got crippled by a raise all in, I reraised with QQAx to isolate the all-in, but another player after me shoved and I had to call and his J1098 straightened the other all in out and left me with 7 K in chips.

The blinds still were not an issue yet at 200/400, but I had gone from 10th to near the bottom in chips. But I quickly began to chip up again flopped another full house, and a couple sets that held and I was right back up to where I was.

When we got down to around 20 players, I doubled up and knocked out a big stack that left me the chip leader with over 200k in chips. Almost the next hand I had AJJx and flop came KQ10, I made a pot sized bet on flop and another big stack shoved. I ‘insta’ called and he showed two pair that didn’t improve, and now I had over 300K.

I got my revenge on the player that crippled me earlier when I hit my straight against him and ousted him with a similar hand then his before.

Once we got down to the final table I had around 450K in chips and had a 2-1 chip lead over 2nd. I took a couple of hits early but still maintained a slight chip lead.

Took one big hit at around 6 players left, but again I quickly recouped by knocking out 2 players to chip back up. Got down to heads up and the other player had a slight chip lead, but heads up play only lasted 1 hand, I had KJ9X against QJ10X, I raised pre-flop he called. Flop was K 10 4, I bet out, he raised, I reraised, he pushed all in. I called. That freakin 9 hit the turn and I was done as the river was no help for me.

On a side not, Pokerstars needs to add a pot bet button. Full Tilt has one and it sure comes in handy in PL games.

I also finished 3rd last weekend in one of the afternoon Electric Stick charity tournaments.” – Punk
Great job Punk – and even a better write up! - Faldo

Imagine if Poker was like this....

Imagine.....

The successful NPP player being forced to fork over some of his/her chips to an entity that, after taking a portion of those chips, hands them over to someone else.

Faldo and LittleRedElf Both Cash in Tourneys

Faldo managed a 7th place finish in a 90 player tourney on PokerStars. That was good for about four times entry.

I like to play in bigger tourneys, but with being back to work and the golf season starting, time to get in the large entry fields is just not there.

I printed this before, but here is a good estimate of the size of the tourney you should enter based on the time you have (just a rough estimate):

1 hour – 9 player SNG
2 hours – 18 player SNG
3 hours – 45 player SNG
4 hours – 90 player SNG
5 hours – 180 player SNG

Time is obviously not an issue for LittleRedElf. Here is his story:

“Tuesday night, in addition to the NPP tourney, I decided to play the PokerStars SCOOP event # 8 NLHE.

It also started at 8:00 PM Tuesday. Everyone started with 10,000 chips.

There were 18,353 entrants including pros Tom McEvoy who got 1,073rd place, Victor Ramdin who finished 604th and Joe Hachem who ended in 59th place.

I was lucky enough (Faldo: “Yeah, right. I would have to be lucky enough.”) to make it to 23rd place.

My play lasted until 8:35 AM the next day, a total of 12 hours and 35 minutes. For my efforts I received 30 times my entry.

I was a little disappointed not to get to the final table-where the big money is-9th place received $1,101 and 1st place got $18,369. But, I'm happy with my play and fortunate to make a few sets on the flop that raked in some big pots.” – LittleRedElf

Nice job Elf!

LittleRedElf Returns to the NPP Winner’s Circle - for the 9th Time

This was only a matter of time, eh fans? With this win, he also jumps into the mix for the 2nd quarter seat in the NPP finals. Actually, moved all the way to 3rd place, behind the co-leaders - T3chlady and Tomservo2! Well done, all.

What a log jam we have at the top of the standings now. Incredibly, there are ten (10) players could take over the lead with just one win, and another seventeen (17) players that get back into contention the same way! This is the stuff I envisioned when I started this league. Great stuff!

Tonight’s action was the same way. At every break, the chip stacks were close! Very exciting night, that’s for sure.

We welcomed two members back from long sabbaticals from NPP; Mowin4116 and Sirgash. Great to see you two, Jeff and Gary.

On to the action:

1 min: Right off the start, Theedouble*d (21st) sees his (AK) lose to Bendandsnap’s (As Qs), with a [Q] on the river. Fastest knockout in NPP history! I don’t think we ever has a 1st hand KO before.

14 min: Derf-63 (20th) gets crippled as his Q-high flush runs into Douge2’s A-high flush.
24 min: T3chlady (19th) with (Ad 8d) can’t run down ThePunk75’s (JJ).
27 min: Ditto with Wingsfancurt (18th) as his (33) can’t catch K9isadog’s (KK).
45 min: Fourbetbluff (17th), Congrats on your new son, by the way – sees his (QQ) lose to Absea98’s (88) when an [8] flops.

52 min: Funtoon (16th)
57 min: Mikeniks-Faldo (15th) decides to gamble here, and my (AK) doesn’t catch ThePunk75’s (JJ).

Nobody is pulling away.
1st break:
K9isadog 3725
xxxKdogxxx 3100
ThePunk75 2930
Mowin4116
Tigercub8189 2740
Douge2 2605
LittleRedElf 2575
Bendandsnap 2395
Tomservo2 2305
Suetman1 1465
Absea98 1370
Sirgash 1225
Odds2win777 1185
Eyekall 1035

62 min: Odds2win777 (14th).
72 min: Absea98 (13th). Ok, Faldo back from jumping out of hotel window after losing that hand to ThePunk. Lucky for me I was on the 1st floor. Anyway, after this hand, the exits came regularly for a while.

74 min: A SS Douge2 (12th) has to go with (QJ) but can’t catch xxxKdogxxx’s (AJ).
75 min: Sirgash (11th) tries with (66) and runs into K9isadog’s (KK).
76 min: Mowin4116 (10th) takes Faldo’s bubble spot, that Faldo was too dumb to get to.
81 min: Bendandsnap (9th)
82 min: LittleRedElf (88), takes out Tigercub8189(8th) (A9) and ThePunk75(7th) (AJ). End of exit flurry.

100 min: Eyekall (6th), who had internet connection problems all night, sees his (AT) fall to K9isadog’s (AJ).

111 min: K9isadog (5th) with (AJ) sees a flop with a [J] in it and moves in. But Suetman1 is holding (KK).

Still a log jam. Very exciting.
2nd break:
LittleRedElf 8324
Suetman1 8322
xxxKdogxxx 8205
Tomservo2 6649

125 min: A SS Tomservo2 (4th) goes with (Ac 7c) and a flop of [73K], but Suetman1 holds (KQ).

132 min: Suetman1 (3rd) takes a shot at a semi-bluff with (Ad Qd) and a flop of [J89]. But LittleRedElf is holding (Jh 8h) and is not going anywhere.

Heads up: LittleRedElf 16250 - 15250 xxxKdogxxx Still close!
135 min: LittleRedElf 16500 - 15000 xxxKdogxxx
140 min: LittleRedElf 21900 - 9600 xxxKdogxxx

143 min: xxxKdogxxx (2nd) goes with (KT) while LittleRedElf holds (Qc Jc), and a [Q] hits the flop.

Congratulations to LittleRedElf on his return to the NPP winner’s circle.

1st – LittleRedElf – 24 points
2nd – xxxKdogxxx – 19 points
3rd – Suetman1 – 15 pts
4th – Tomservo2 – 12 pts
5th – K9isadog – 9 pts
6th – Eyekall – 7 pts

A Serious Question Put to Faldo

Matchy asked this:

“Poker seems to be mostly a young man's game. If you look at the top pros many are twenty-somethings save for a few Doyle Brunson types. This begs the question...how would would Faldo of today fare in a heads up game against the young Faldo? I am sure you have learned alot over the years, but would that knowledge overcome the bravado of youth?

For what it's worth the current Matchy would kill the Matchy of the past. Not saying I am anything special now, but I had no concept of pot odds or the math of the game back even 10 years ago.”

Faldo: Just like the athletes of yesterday would be no match for the athletes of today, the past “young” Faldo would lose to the current Faldo. Not quickly mind you, but would lose all the same.

But Matchy, you hit the nail on the head. The young Faldo had “onions” – and was willing to “back his read” to the hilt. Today’s Faldo, not so much – even though today’s Faldo is slightly better at reads, he can’t always pull the trigger.

In addition, the young Faldo could not handle certain types of players or some of their different Dealer’s Choice offerings. Today’s Faldo – although not happy with a lot of selections – can handle them all.

Experience is the best teacher, and I think everyone gets better over time. You have to improve as you go, because your opponents are.

T3chlady, Faldo and Theedouble*d Make Final Tables

T3chlady has qualified for the FTOPS #9 event this Sunday. The prize pool is a whopping $600,000! Good luck Lady! Faldo expects a full report (along with a percentage of the winnings).

Theedouble*d continues his winning ways over at Full Tilt. He finished 7th in a 180 person SNG, returning six times his entry. This bounty was added to a couple of smaller FT SNG cashes also. Way to stay on fire DD.

Meanwhile, over at Ultimate Bet, Faldo ignored the ‘new’ scandal of possible hacking into the UB/AP site in order to read hold cards, and entered a Rebuy tourney. UB is working very, very hard to close this gap in their security. Word has it that UB/AP (Ultimate Bet/Absolute Poker) uses different encryption type stuff than the other big sites, and it has holes the others don’t.

Anyway, Faldo re-bought once and added the double add on, on his way to a 5th place finish out of 321 players. This returned a friendly 30 times entries. And no, I could not see any hole cards.

Please keep your results rolling in to the npokerp at yahoo email. I love to post the good stuff.

The Community Card Review - VI

B. Hussein Obama’s agenda for this country is simple – dictatorship.

His healthcare bill needed bribes, threats and hidden deals to get passed by a bunch of Democrat lawmakers who didn’t even READ the 1018 pages! Even Democrat lawmakers were lied to as to what was in the bill – by Democrats. There is the elimination of private insurance and there are death panels. Not to mention the cost of the program will be eight to ten times more than we were told it would be.

Global warming has been exposed as the hoax it always was. Democrats have been pushing this lie for decades – especially to our school children. For no other reason than for government control of the energy industry.

Unions have lied to workers for years about being able to “protect” jobs, taking untold billions away from them by force, while actually being the cause of jobs disappearing.

Hussein Obama promised “laser-like focus” on job creation, but instead put all his efforts into getting Socialist medicine the law of the land, playing golf and Democrat fund raising. Another lie.

After the “Porkulus Bill”, bailouts and Cash for Clunkers, job losses continue and the economy continues to decline – while our nation’s bankruptcy looms just around the corner. See Greece.

For those of you in Ann Arbor, that is not what you avoid with non-fatty foods. It is actually a country. Look it up.

The Democrat solution to create jobs – that in actuality they all know will not work – is another “stimulus bill” and raising taxes. This is exactly what is killing the economy now. What is the reason the Democrats still push this? See the first sentence of this post. The first rule of Marxism is to make everyone dependent on you. Yet another Democrat lie.

Floods in Tennessee and an oil rig spill in the Gulf were ignored by Obama for nearly two weeks without a peep from the liberal media. The Department of Interior, the Head of FMEA and the President himself, were all vacationing and fund raising – and could not be bothered.

Surprised you didn’t know this? Don’t be. The liberal media; CBS, NBC, ABC, CNBC, MSNBC, CNN, the New York Times, The Detroit Free Press/News, etc., refuse to report the truth. Heck, they are still pushing the Global Warming lie.

Internationally, Hussein embarrassed himself on a failed bid for the Olympics, bowing before foreign leaders, trashing his own country, being spanked by the Chinese – no less – for his communist economic policies and getting mocked by dictators around the world.

Terrorist plots and nuclear arms growth continue by our enemies, while Obama continues his “talk softly, carry no stick, and bend over grabbing the ankles” foreign policy.

His decision to close the Guantanamo Bay prison, a three month delay in the decision to send more troops to Afghanistan, and the decision to hold civil trials for terrorists in New York City are just as dangerous to our nation’s security as the rest of his bungling.

Voting Democrat has always been akin to lighting a match to the Constitution of the United States. Pure and simple. Citizens could almost be forgiven for being ignorant or blinded to this fact in the past. No more.

It has never been clearer that a vote for a Democrat is a vote for tyranny and a complete loss of our country.

Theedouble*d Makes Two Final Tables; T3chlady Books a Win

Proving that their results at NPP are not a fluke, these two NPP warriors expand their victim’s list to include other sites and other players.

Over on Full Tilt, NPP’ers more than hold their own.

T3chlady reports a win in an 18 player SNG. Can a victory at NPP be far behind? After all, she took over the 2nd quarter lead without an outright win.

Meanwhile, Theedouble*d stayed on fire in late March and early April on Full Tilt.

In early April, he finishes 2nd in a 774 player tourney, returning 106 times the entry!! Wow. Great job!

This came after this late March final table appearance in a Full Tilt rey-buy tourney – with some commentary submitted:

“Made another final table. Key hands for me were in the middle game.

Blinds are 150/300. In the small blind I have 4d 6d. There is a limp-fest and 7 players limp in to the big blind. BB raises min and we have one player not make the call. Flop comes K64 rainbow. Checked to me and I push all in. BB calls and one other player. BB is holding AK. Other player has 55. They get no help and I trip up. If either 55 or AK pushes even a little harder, I am probably out of there pre flop. Being last to call with no one shoving hard allowed me to play that hand.

Another one later when blinds were 500/1000. I hold 7h 6h on the button. I limp in and am allowed to see flop. Flop is 7cKc7d. BB goes all in and gets one caller in addition to me. Cards shown and BB is holding AA and other caller has JcTc. They do not improve and I am close to tripled again. BB is eliminated.

Moral to this story is that your key hands aren't always your big monster pairs. If your opponents are not skilled enough to run you off your speculative hands, your little ones can quickly turn into monsters. If they misplay the big ones, they are just inviting the suckout.

In the first hand, I can see 55 limping early, but AK should of pushed a tad harder. In the 2nd hand, the BB slow playing the AA allowed me to hit trips and the other guy to see flop and get his flush draw that also had huge suckout possibilities. There is a huge risk to slow playing AA. Every so often to mix it up at a very aggressive table maybe. Bank on them doing your initial raise for you. But it sure should not be a habit.

Once I made final table with an average size stack, I waited awhile and no one was willing to get into it. I pushed a 1/3 of my stack with 99. Got pushed back by a big stack and called. He was holding KQo. He caught the K on turn. Out 9th with 22 times return on my investment.

Sigh. I was thinking a 280 times return was for me.” – DD

Congratulations to T3chlady and Theedouble*d. And a super write-up, DD. - Faldo

ThePunk75’s 5th Career NPP Win Gets Him Back in the Race!

ThePunk75 took advantage of a smaller, but just as tough NPP line up to climb back into the race for the 2nd quarter seat in the NPP Finals. After the win, ThePunk exclaimed, "I'm back!!!!" Faldo never had a doubt he would be.

Meanwhile, showing that tough play, courage, strenght of purpose, class shown thru bad beats - while being persistence - pays off, T3chlady takes the lead in the standings tonight!

We welcomed Eyekall into the NPP family. He made the final table to boot! We also welcomed back Odds2win777 tonight.

Sorry for the lack of effort reporting. Faldo was forced to work while playing and trying to record the action. Not complaining – just explaining.

On to the action:

38 min: A short-stacked (SS) Yecats (17th) moves all in with (QQ) and a flop of [5A4], but Theedouble*d is holding (A5).

39 min: Suetman1 (16th) moves in with (AJ), but Eyekall is holding (AA).
40 min: Douge2’s (15th) (JT) loses to Theedouble*d’s (KQ).
48 min: Absea98 (14th) gets the bad beat of the night. His (77) hits a [7] on the flop to dominate Meatsword’s (KQ). But [QQ] show up on the turn and river to crush him.

50 min: Derf-63 (13th)
53 min: A SS Mikeniks-Faldo (12th) has to go with (99), but T3chlady hits a [J] on the turn holding (As Js).

56 min: A SS Mistermusic5 (11th) goes with (22) but runs into xxxKdogxxx’s (KK).

62 min: Odds2win777 (10th) sees his (KK) run into Theedouble*d’s (AA).
76 min: A SS xxxKdogxxx (9th) goes with (QQ), but Funtoon makes a straight with his (Jh Th).

85 min: Eyekall (8th) also goes with (QQ) and Funtoon does it again as his (AJ) pairs the [A] to chase the new guy. Nice final table appearance however.

90 min: Meatsword (7th) goes with (A6) and a flop of [652], but Funtoon has (55). Ouch!
97 min: A SS LittleRedElf (6th) has to go when he sees his (Q7) pair a flop of [765], but Tigercub8189 is holding (65) from the small blind.

98 min: Theedouble*d (5th) goes with (88), but runs into ThePunk75’s (KK).
110 min: A SS T3chlady (4th) loses with (A9) to Tigercub8189’s (TT). But this finish moves The Lady to the lead of the 2nd quarter standings! Congratulations Lady!

Tigercub8189 7794
ThePunk75 6421

128 min: Tigercub8189 (3rd) tries a semi-bluff with (99) with a flop of [8Q2], but Funtoon is holding (82).

Heads up: Funtoon 19000 - 6500 ThePunk75

130 min: Funtoon 16500 - 9000 ThePunk75

Faldo Ties for 1st at Matchy’s Tourney

Matchy had a card game at his house Saturday night. I would recommend highly that NPP’ers in the area take advantage of a fun, relaxed, laid back night of poker.

The format was identical to the old Nik’s Poker Palace format – except for:
 the tournament was played before the cash game. NPP always had the cash game til midnight or 1am, and then a quick SNG tourney ended the night.
 The cash game had a standard 1-2-3-4 betting pattern, where Matchy’s cash game max bet increased every two hours (3 max – then 5 max – then 10).
 Matchy has tournament and cash chips. NPP used the same chips for both.
 NPP used standard playing cards, Matchy uses plastic cards.
 Both games were dealer’s choice but NPP used a “dealer antes” while Matchy uses a small/big blind style.

The tourney had eight players with Faldo and “Jason” splitting the top two spots.

Seven stayed for the ring play. Faldo suffered a small loss in the cash action. Matchy appeared to be the big winner when Faldo headed home.

The Tuesday NPP’ers were Faldo and two ex-NPP’ers – 7Jokers and of course the host Matchy.

FYI – Matchy is not considering a return to on-line play because he just “can’t get into it”, while 7Jokers is considering a triumphant return to Tuesday night.

Douge2’s Humor Corner – XXXVIII

Following Orders

During a recent password audit, it was found that a woman playing on PokerStars was using the following password:

MickeyMinniePlutoHueyLouieDeweyDonaldGoofy

When asked why such a big password, she said that it had to be at least 8 characters long.

If only all women followed all orders that precisely.

West Virginia Farm Kid Joins the Marines

Dear Ma and Pa,

I am well. Hope you are. Tell Brother Walt and Brother Elmer the Marine Corps beats working for old man Minchby a mile. Tell them to join up quick before all of the places are filled.

I was restless at first because you get to stay in bed till nearly 6 a.m. But I am getting so I like to sleep late. Tell Walt and Elmer all you do before breakfast is smooth your cot, and shine some things. No hogs to slop, feed to pitch, mash to mix, wood to split, fire to lay. Practically nothing.

Breakfast is strong on trimmings like fruit juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, etc., but kind of weak on chops, potatoes, ham, steak, fried eggplant, pie and other regular food, but tell Walt and Elmer you can always sit by the two city boys that live on coffee. Their food, plus yours, holds you until noon when you get fed again. It's no wonder these city boys can't walk much.

We go on 'route marches,' which the platoon sergeant says are long walks to harden us. If he thinks so, it's not my place to tell him different. A 'route march' is about as far as to our mailbox at home. Then the city guys get sore feet and we all ride back in trucks.

The sergeant is like a school teacher. He nags a lot. The Captain is like the school board. Majors and colonels just ride around and frown. They don't bother you none.

This next will kill Walt and Elmer. I keep getting medals for shooting. I don't know why. The bulls-eye is near as big as a chipmunk head and don't move, and it ain't shooting at you like the Higgett boys at home. All you got to do is lie there all comfortable and hit it. You don't even load your own cartridges they come in boxes.

Then we have what they call hand-to-hand combat training. You get to wrestle with them city boys. I have to be real careful though, they break real easy. It ain't like fighting with that ole bull at home. I'm about the best they got in this except for that Tug Jordan from Texas. I only beat him once. He joined up the same time as me, but I'm only 5'6' and 150 pounds and he's 6'8' and near 300 pounds dry.

Be sure to tell Walt and Elmer to hurry and join before other fellers get onto this setup and come stampeding in.

Your loving daughter, Alice
