Sirgash Wins Round 1 of the MI Forum League

In an exciting come from behind victory, Sirgash overtook Whilden on the last round of the 7 week league.

Sirgash HAD to win the last tourney while Whilden could not finish 4th or better – in order for the rally. Both players made the final table.

When Sirgash himself sent Whilden to the rail in 8th place, the stage was set. GvSu2009, who finished 2nd to Faldo Tuesday, was the heads up opponent. Try as he might, he could not take the chip lead away from Sirgash once heads up.

Congratulations to GvSu2009 for back to back 2nds, to Whilden for a great 7-tourney run in round 1, and of course to Sirgash for that exciting rally!

See more details on this tourney, this league and the start of the next round at the Michigan Poker Forum link on the right side of the blog.

Poker tournaments like this are great to watch. It is beneficial to view pros in action as they compete in these types of tournaments. If you are a beginner in poker it is good to get in as much practice as possible. It is also beneficial to watch the different strategies and techniques used by the pros. Watching the pros in action will actually improve your own techniques and eventually better you skills in the game as well.

Hello MIPokerForum Members. We are starting out second league this Wednesday at 8:00 pm on PokerStars. It will run for 10 weeks and we have a new points structure that is posted in the MIPokerForum League section on the forums. Prizes for the league winner will be special forum rank, an autographed Phil Laak MIPokerForum postcard, UMichiganPoker dealer button, the first buy-in to the next league opening week and a 500 count MIPokerForum chip set with its own case. Come on and join the league. We had a great first league with great players and lots of fun. We usually had around 20 players, but hope to get it to around 30 per game this round. You can play any Wednesday night, even if you miss a few. The league buy-in is $5 a week on Poker Stars. If you have any questions, just ask Sirgash, Nixi44 or me – Wwsatando.
