Derf-63 Wins for the Second Time in 2013

Danica Patrick runs fast and hot after Derf-63!
Derf-63 built a big stack at his first table and then continued his run at the final table. With this win, Derf-63 joins the crowd chasing Faldo for the 3rd seat in the NPP final.

T3chlady and Pre01 also can run down Faldo to win the 3rd quarter seat.

Ah, but here is the rub! Faldo is a wildcard! If he wins the seat, the second place player also gets a seat!

So, the real leader is T3chlady, who is being chased by Derf-63, Pre01, and LittleRedElf.

As always, an exciting finish all the way to the final week in Quarter Three!

Sorry for the lack of record keeping, but Faldo is trying to WIN A SEAT here!

The Education Continutes at NPP

Manure... An interesting fact
Manure : In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by ship and it was also before the invention of commercial fertilizers, so large shipments of manure were quite common.

It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, not only did it become heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is methane gas of course. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles, you can guess what could (and did) happen.

Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM!

Several ships – and people - were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just

what was happening.
After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the instruction
' Stow high in transit '
on them, which meant for the sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.

Thus evolved the term ' S.H.I.T ' , (Stow High In Transit) which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day.
You probably did not know the true history of this word. Neither did I. I had always thought it was a golf term.

 And Where it Comes From
A guy traveling through Mexico on vacation lost his wallet and all of his identification. Cutting his trip short, he attempted to make his way home but was stopped by the U.S. Customs Agent at the border.

"May I see your identification, please?" asked the agent.
"I'm sorry, but I lost my wallet," replied the guy.

"Sure buddy, I hear that every day. No ID, no entry," said the agent.
"But I can prove I'm an American!" he exclaimed. "I have a picture of Ronald Reagan tattooed on one side of my butt and George Bush on the other."

"This I gotta see, "replied the agent.
With that, the guy dropped his pants and showed the agent his behind.

"By golly, you're right!" exclaimed the agent. "Have a safe trip back to Chicago ...."
"Thanks!" he said. "But how did you know I was from Chicago ?"

The agent replied, "I recognized Obama in the middle."

K9isadog Wins for the 5th Time This Season!

Waiting for the winner K9isadog back in the NPP Lounge.
K9isadog has almost double the wins this season as his next closest competitor (3), but is not in the race quite yet for the 3rd quarter seat. But that could change. The only thing stopping K9isadog….is K9isadog. He misses too many nights first of all …and second, his aggressive play gets him wins and not very many place finishes. And with spotty attendance, he sometimes comes up just short. He had three wins last quarter but could not win the seat.

Well, he is back in this race …..so look out everyone!

Pre01 is another great player who cannot make every week. Faldo used that to full advantage to wrestle the point lead away from Pre01. But Pre01 is still the “leader” as Faldo is a wildcard and cannot take a seat from anyone. So, it is still Pre01’s seat to hang on to.

Tough duty for Faldo to face LittleRedElf and K9isadog – heads up – in back to back weeks! Where is Faldo’s hazard pay?

NPP welcomes a new player tonight - Spunkykim. Kim found out about us thru knowing Derf-63.
She learned that Derf-63 has been a proud long standing member of NPP.
She learned that Derf-63 knows Faldo. Derf has met Faldo. Derf has associated with Faldo.
She joined anyway because of everyone else in the league!
Welcome Spunky!

Faldo is Glad it is Still Golf Season

David Feherty is a Golf Channel announcer who finds very unique, colorful and uninhibited ways of explaining or describing whatever is on his mind...... Probably always on time delay these days. Feherty Quotes:

“Fortunately, he (Rory) is 22 years old so his right wrist should be the strongest muscle in his body.”

“That ball is so far left, Lassie couldn’t find it if it was wrapped in bacon.”

“I am sorry Nick Faldo couldn’t be here this week. He is attending the birth of his next wife.”

“They don’t do comedy at the Masters. The Masters, for me, is like holding onto a really big collection of gas for a week. It’s like having my buttocks surgically clenched at Augusta General Hospital on Wednesday, and surgically unclenched on Monday on the way to Hilton Head.”

Jim Furyk’s swing - “It looks like an octopus falling out of a tree.”

“He’s (Luke Donald) a bloody walking ATM. I slid my AmEx between the cheeks of his ass and out popped $500.”

Describing VJ's prodigious practice regime - "VJ hits more balls than Elton John's chin."

"That's a great shot with that swing."

"It's OK - the bunker stopped it."

At Augusta 2011 - "It's just a glorious day. The only way to ruin a day like this would be to play golf on it."

"That was a great shot - if they'd put the pin there today."

"Everything moves except his bowels."

"Watching Phil Mickelson play golf is like watching a drunk chasing a balloon near the edge of a cliff."

A Golf Ethics Question
What if you were playing in the club championship tournament finals and the match was halved at the end of 17 holes. You had the honor and hit your ball a modest two hundred fifty yards to the middle of the fairway, leaving a simple six iron to the pin.

Your opponent then hits his ball, lofting it deep into the woods to the right of the fairway. Being the golfing gentleman that you are, you help your opponent look for his ball. Just before the permitted five minute search period ends, your opponent says: "Go ahead and hit your second shot and if I don't find it in time, I'll concede the match."

You hit your ball, landing it on the green, stopping about ten feet from the pin. About the time your ball comes to rest, you hear your opponent exclaim from deep in the woods: "I found it!". The second sound you hear is a click, the sound of a club striking a ball and the ball comes sailing out of the woods and lands on the green, stopping no more than six inches from the hole.

Now here is the ethical dilemma:

Do you pull the cheating bastards ball out of your pocket and confront him with it or do you keep your mouth shut.

Faldo Wins for the 2nd Time This Year

Waiting patiently for Faldo to finish signing autographs.
Well it was a struggle as it always is against this group. But to be heads up against the legend - LittleRedElf - is a little overwhelming! You need three things to defeat The Elf; Luck, cold cards for The Elf and ....alot of luck. Faldo got all that.....and some luck, too.
Things really tighten up in the race for the 3rd quarter seat. Remember Faldo is a wild card, and - if he accidentally and by some miracle wins the seat - the second place person also wins a seat in the finals. So, with Faldo hanging around….all things are possible for anyone even close to the top of the 3rd quarter.
Preo1 – who cannot play every week, which makes it all that much more amazing – is still leading the 3rd quarter.
T3chlady and LittleRedElf just keep plugging along – seemingly picking up points every round.
But virtually every player is only a win or two away from sailing by. It should be a very exciting finish ….as it always is!
On to the action:

Suetman123 (Claudia) moves up to 19th on the Walk of Fame!

The guys better kick it up a notch. The ladies are not taking prisoners right now.

It must be a Tuesday night thing because Faldo’s chess round was just like his NPP rounds.
Faldo left the chess round beaten and broken Tuesday night. Chess board, poker table – whatever – the result was the same.
Here are the final standings for Tuesday night.
