Sanster89 Wins His 1st NPP Title!

A Sanster89 rail bunny helps him up after fainting after his victory! The 68th person to win an NPP tournament.

With all the sharks circling and battling, Sanster89 fought thru it all to take his 1st NPP title. Nice job Sanster89.

Sanster89 jumps right into the 3rd quarter race for a seat in the NPP Final. T3chlady and Derf-63 also pick up points.

Remember, Mikeniks-Faldo is a wildcard. If Faldo qualifies – either in a quarter or in the total points race, the next person also qualifies. So, technically, Sanster89 is now in 2nd place in the 3rd quarter.

It’s shaping up to be an exciting finish.

T3chlady’s Inaugural White House Tournament

The cheerleaders were a great touch T3chlady, but the "first" tournament is not spelled Anagaral.

The write up, from the hostess herself!

"Hi NPP’ers,

Players: Jean (T3chlady), Dave (LittleRedElf). Doug (douge2), Fred (Beerhog), James Rizor (rijzor), Tom (tomservo2), Jeff (tomservo’s assistant), Kathy (tomservo’s daughter), John (k9isadog), Mike (Mikeniks-Faldo), Randy (rjmech),

Details: Dinner: Hamburgers on the grill and assorted salads and dessert.

Tournament Started at 5:40

8:15 Doug busted out by Kathy

8:18 Jeff busted out by John

8:32 Dave busted out by Kathy

8:43 Mike busted out by James

10:01 Randy busted out by Jean

10:02 Fred busted out by Jean

James busted out next

John busted out next (sorry I did both of those well after the fact, time not noted)

Then by chip count we declared Kathy the winner, Jean 2nd and Tom 3rd

Here’s the real story:

About a week before the tournament I finished up phase I of my poker room decorations but could not figure out how to get the ambient temp of 60 degrees! OMG. Way too cold for sitting and playing cards. The primary ducts for the air conditioning run the length and width of that room in the ceiling. Rest of the house is 74 but basement is 60.

I bought a heater! Can you believe it? July and I’m looking for a heater. The best one was one I could use in my barn for the winter as well but it was 220V and I had to have a new plug put in to use it. My barn already had 220. So my electrician came out and installed the plug. The heater I ordered is a 4000W two speed heater with a blower. I opened the box to test it and the plug looked like someone had run over it. Good grief.

I took the unit to my electrician and the replaced the plug. I picked up the heater on Friday.

The night before the tournament I was putting the finishing touches on my two older 8-seat octo poker tables. Each one received a new felt top. The green table needed a couple of small nails to secure the middle plate and I started pounding. After about 5 minutes of that, about a DOZEN YELLOW JACKETS visited me in the basement. Yikes! How could I have a party if we were going to be surrounded by swarms of mutant wasps! Apparently the noise disturbed their sleep and they sent out the front guard.

So at midnight Friday I went to Meijers and purchased some pest bombs. I got back, bees were gone. Scary, don’t know where. I set off one bomb and sealed the basement. Went to bed and told myself I would finish next day.

So, next morning I started sealing off every open crevice in the basement, topping it off with some plastic and decorative duct tape (yeah, right). No yellow jackets. All was good. But I could hear them in the wall upstairs near the window well, behind the siding. Then I went outside and saw where they were coming and going. I called a pest removal place and they will be here in a day or two to get rid of them. These pests usually just keep to themselves unless to annoy them (hammering nails, for example).

It was still 60 degrees down there so I turned on the heater and within 45 minutes it felt quite comfortable. Sigh and thank goodness. Add 10 people and it was just right for the remainder of the evening.

At 3:00 I started getting phone calls that people would be late. Doug and James arrived before 4 to help. At 4 we were still the only ones here and we were hungry so we decided to run the cookout first and then play afterwards. People started showing up and we had burgers and salads ready. My sister Janet and her husband Jon came over to eat too. It was Jon’s birthday and combining the two events seemed like a good idea, and it was! Janet brought strawberry shortcake instead of the traditional birthday cake.

We started the tournament at 5:40 and the rest is history. Everyone had a great time. Killer Kathy was reigned queen. K9 is to be commended for feats of strength helping us roll Tom up the stairs. Thanks go to our professional dealers, Mike and K9.

With only a few adjustments I think the next event will be even better, like sound deadening on the chip trays and chairs that don’t go “pop”.

You can expect a fall classic, probably October. - Jean"

Thanks Jean! Ok, we got Rijzor to join NPP. Tomservo2, start working on Kathy and Jeff to join us on Tuesdays!

PokerStars Purchases Full Tilt in Settlement with the Dept. of Justice

Washington, DC (July 31, 2012) - John Pappas, executive director of the Poker Players Alliance (PPA), the leading poker grassroots advocacy group with more than one million members nationwide, issued the following statement upon today's announcement that PokerStars purchased Full Tilt Poker's major assets and settled its legal disputes with the U.S. Department of Justice. The settlement means that tens of thousands of Americans will be able to seek reimbursement of the more than $150 million they have been owed since April 15, 2011.

"Thanks to PokerStars, the PPA expects that tens of thousands of innocent American poker players will now have access to more than $150 million that has been kept from them for over 14 months. We applaud that the parties made a process for the restitution of the players a central component of the agreement, and appreciate the government’s commitment to the fair treatment of the players

"The government has not yet released the precise details on how reimbursements will occur. It is the PPA's position that the government must take all steps necessary to ensure the process for the players to recover their full funds is not unduly burdensome. PPA's legal team will remain fully involved as the ‘voice of the player’ to ensure our members are heard throughout this process. As we learn more, the PPA will quickly gather and distribute information on the reimbursement process to our members.

"At the same time, let’s remember that Americans still remain unable to play poker with safe and secure online sites based in the U.S. – a freedom and consumer protection they should not be denied. The PPA and its members continue to urge Congress to quickly enact thoughtful legislation to create a licensed and regulated U.S. online poker market that restores Americans' freedom to enjoy a game of poker from their home computer."

Warnings: It's Like Yelling in Antartica Anyway

Faldo doesn’t go to a lot of bars. But Faldo has a couple of them he will frequent. One is where you will usually find me. The one with chicken wings and cold draft beer.

The other semi-regular place is a cigar bar. Friendly, open, trendy and like Faldo said, you can smoke a cigar.

The last spot is where Faldo goes to drink alone and stew in my own thoughts. Not as classy as the cigar bar and not trendy like the wing restaurant, but not a dive where Faldo has to worry about hassles. Faldo is not there often enough to where the employees notice me. As a matter of fact, this night all the “help” appears to have changed - again. This is perfect for my desire to not be bothered. If Faldo wanted company the other two places is where Faldo will be.

Faldo was all the way at the end of the bar on a more crowded than usual night for his “alone” place. It is a rainy weeknight and that seemed to have packed in some of the professional people and professors from the financial district and major college campus nearby.

Faldo was half-way thru my first glum solitary drink when a well-dressed suit about my age sat down in the only empty stool left at the bar – next to me. Faldo thought maybe he recognized him as a “somebody” but could not quite place it. Or maybe Faldo had seen him in here before and that 1st class suit just made him look like a “somebody”. Either way, it was dismissed as - after all - he is sitting next to Faldo. It don’t get too much more “somebody” than that!

Mr. or Prof. GQ orders a double from the bartender who knows which scotch to reach for – it’s the best and most expensive of the bottles of scotch in view. He downs it like it is iced tea and nods to the bartender for a re-fill and with a raised eyebrow from the pourer, the glass is refilled. This time, only half is poured down quickly and the bartender retreats to other thirsty people.

We sit there in silence for 10 minutes, with only an interruption in our private thoughts is from the silent drink pourer with a quick double refill for my neighbor and a fresh cold stout beer for me.

Some time passes and Faldo notices GQ is looking at his smartphone and is staring at it approximately 5 inches from his own face. After a few minutes he says to know one in particular, “The new day starts in about 10 hours – more or less.”

He then sets the smartphone down and throws back his third double and signals for a refill – which is slow in coming. Faldo looks at the phone and it is the latest and greatest on the market. This thing could fly the space shuttle if it needed to. Faldo saw the advertisements for that smartphone, and know that not only are they are more than triple the price of any other smartphone on the market, but there is a waiting list to get one. Only the hoy-connected-paloy has them right now.

So, this guy is a “somebody”. But who?

After his re-fill arrives, he turns to me and asks, “Do you know anything about how the world financial markets work?”

Faldo said, “I just know it is all IOU’s, smoke and mirrors and controlled by a few people in a few countries.”

He doesn’t confirm or deny my allegation. The look on his face is one of study. Like he is deciding whether to agree with me or set me straight. Not from an opinion standpoint. No, the look tells me he knows the correct answer and is debating whether or not to tell me.

After a while Faldo asks, “Why did you ask me that?” That breaks his trance and he says, “What?” like he never heard my question at all. Faldo repeats it and he just turned back to his drink.

Faldo did the same thing and after a few minutes he said, “When I was in junior high, there was a game we played once in class. It consisted of asking the question ‘If it was nighttime and we knew positively that the world was going to be destroyed tomorrow morning, would we tell anyone? If you ask enough people, you will notice some interesting patterns.

There are really only three basic answers. Some will say that they will spend the remaining time screwing, eating, drinking, getting stoned, listening to their favorite music or walking in the woods. The Sensualist reply.”

Others will say that they will try to escape even if it was hopeless. They would spend their time searching for the loophole that would save the planet or at least themselves. This is the Pragmatic reply.

Others will try to come to terms with the oncoming doom. They will settle in their own minds any way to find some peace or retribution. They will either enjoy the time with spouses, family and friends. While others come to terms by strike out at who they thought was responsible for bringing this apocalypse. This is the Appolonian reply.

There are some crossovers and mixtures of the two, but you can really fit them all into just these three categories.”

He downed another drink before continuing. “The next question was even more revealing. If you knew the world was about to come apart completely and unravel, making currency, property and banks worthless overnight. And then the world will fall into total anarchy followed by purges of governments, colleges, media outlets, with death, starvation, slavery, re-education camps and despair for the masses, would you tell anyone else?”

Mr. GQ turned to me and said, “Would you tell anyone else?”

Faldo thought for a while and asked again if there was “anything that could be done to stop it?” He said, “Nothing.”

“In that case,” Faldo said picking up my mug for a swig of beer, “I wouldn’t say anything.”

“Ok, then I won’t either.” And with that, Mr. GQ got up, threw a hundred dollar bill on the bar and walked out. The bartender looked really happy when he saw the massive tip lying there. But also lying there was Mr. GQ’s smartphone.

“Well that guy will be back for his phone…..and for his change,” Faldo said to the bartender, who now looked a little mad at me for suggesting that. Then Faldo asked the bartender, “Who is that guy?”

The bartender said, “Oh, he is the top Economics professor at that college and is also one of the main advisors to President Obama. Yeah, that guy is way up there in the Democrat Party. One of the key guys in the inner circle fund-raising efforts for the Obama campaign here in Michigan. I thought you knew him, because I never heard him speak except to order a drink. But he seemed to be talking your ear off.”

Then Faldo remembered where Faldo saw his face before – on the cover of TIME magazine while walking thru an airport on a business trip.

It has been an hour now and Faldo keeps looking at Mr. GQ’s smartphone. Surely, he will notice he doesn’t have it on him and will come back for it.

But Faldo is starting to worry.

Theedouble*d Wins to Slightly Slow Down the Lump2 Express

A Theedouble*d fan watching her man win again for the 8th time in NPP history.

We had to bring in a ringer from the past NPP glory to slow down Lump2.

The tale of two poker players this night. Theedouble*d always had a good stack and slowly crushed all foes. The other was short-stacked all night, but came alive at the right times. By picking up the scraps of the other short stacks, Lump2 made a run at yet another win, but came up just short.

No matter. Lump2 widened his lead on the field for the 3rd quarter seat in the NPP finals.

But with only 3 tournaments played, there is still time left for someone to get hot and make a run.

20 min: Derf-63 (14th) runs into Sanster89’s (AA).

In Poker: It’s Just Emotion That’s Taking Me Over

An emotional team wins the impossible medal!

“Caught up in sorrow, lost in the song.”

These are the words of those immortal poker players – uhhhh, musical group, the Bee Gees. But they have a strong poker point that they are making. Emotion is no good in poker.

A moment as Faldo returns to the confessional. Anyone who has been involved in Faldo’s athletic endeavors in any way, shape or form – has seen Faldo used emotion to motivate himself to do well. Having not been blessed with God-given athletic ability or size, emotion was used (anger, fear and pride mostly) to motivate Faldo to do things Faldo didn’t think Faldo could do in the first place. Playing at a level you don’t really think you belong to be playing at does that to you.

Obviously, Faldo’s whole premise was flawed because Faldo did achieve some athletic achievements, so the ability was there in the first place. But Faldo digresses. The point is, in Faldo’s younger days playing sports and yes, even golf in later years – emotion was used as the motivator to do well. And Faldo ignorantly believed that it did make him perform better. And the fact that it was an illusion was not easy to see. A few times, in athletics, if talent is close, emotion works. A few times anyway.

But when you use emotion in poker, the illusion that it helps disintegrates faster than a beach sand castle hit with a tidal wave.

It is essential to remove emotion from all your poker decisions. Getting negatively emotional on any level will only cloud your judgment and make you think of things that have no bearing on poker outcomes.

Anger will make you strike back at the dealer, card deck or opponents that ‘have done you wrong’. Well, two of the three don’t care and will not be affected at all. And being mad at your opponent will only make them defensive and therefore have their guard up for you. In other words, they will play better against you. Is that what you want?

Frustration will make you act rashly and push decisions and hands that you normally would not do. It’s ok to do it as a planned strategy in a given situation, but ‘tilt’ decisions are rarely successful.

Being depressed is the wrong mindset at the poker table. You will either tighten up to the point you lose value on the hands you do hit, or you will desensitize yourself to losses and the value of your chips. Kind of like a Democrat with tax dollars. This is the sure road to Broke-ville.

Fear of players will cause you to avoid confrontations and miss value bets and profitable raises. Seeing ‘ghosts’ like “that guy always has a hand against me” or “they always hit (the turn, river) on me” or “I never hit”, will shrink your stack.

Pride always comes before the fall. Ego has no place in poker, contrary to the TV images you see. Remember, that is TV! The people making steady money at the card tables are the quiet ones you never even notice. The exception is that you may remember fondly “that person was fun to be around.” Sure, they are nice. They have your money.

To a lesser extent, happiness, pity or nervousness can also hurt you. Being on a roll will sometimes cause a tilt of “I am unbeatable” and cause a leak of profit.

Pity of a particular opponent may seem nice on the surface. But so, you ‘give’ some chips away to them, only to see your tough opponent win them two hands later. Good thinkin’.

Nervousness you should grow out of over time. So, if you know you are going to be nervous be sure to start play rested and in a good frame of mind. Then, get over it and play some cards! They get the same cards you do and if you practice what Faldo is preaching, they will be emotional cripples compared to you!

So, never play when you know you are in an emotional state. Or acknowledge your emotion and dismiss it as the anchor to your game that it is – and drop it! And if you can’t drop it, stop playing and go chill out.

Poker is an emotional roller coaster, but you don’t have to ride the big ride if you don’t want to. It’s up to you.

Yes Faldo, Faldo is talking to you!

Democrats Still Hate the US Military - Never Forget That

Don't think for one moment that just because the Democrats placed their Communist-in-Chief in the White House, that they now love our military.

They, as Bill Clinton once said, "loathe the military."

After all, unless the Democrats can use the military against our citizens at Tea Party rallies, the Democrats feel, "Well then, who needs them?"

As we move towards the November election where conservatives WILL elect a "band-aid" to fix the .45 caliber wound to our nation's stomach, keep in mind that the core Democrat-socialist-Marxist left, still absolutely hates the armed forces that keep our nation safe.

I should not have to remind any American of the things the Democrats said about or did to our military and our veterans when Bush 43 was in the White house.

The name calling, the treasonous siding with our enemies, declarations that the war was "lost", and the slander of everyone attached to our military should be still fresh in any real American's mind.

The Democrats and their lapdog media and professional protestors are not calling for the immediate withdraw of our troops from the Middle East right now. They would not dare attach a defeat to their Muslim-in-Chief right before an election.

But right after the Obama's are voted out and after they complete their FINAL of over one hundred tax payer vacations, look for the Democrats to start the anti-war, anti-military rhetoric all over again.

Count on it. Even though this prediction is obvious, remember Faldo has only one missed prediction out of hundreds on his record.

That ONE wrong prediction is that Faldo thought Hillary Clinton would be the one residing over the fall of the United States. And say what you will about Hillary, she is not incompetent. Lucky for our nation Obama and Bill Clinton are. Faldo underestimated first of all how little disregard the Democrat Party has for the Constitution, the laws of our nation and the respect for the citizens of this nation. And second, even Faldo grossly underestimated the stupidity of the Democrat voters and many of our fellow countrymen and women.

Oh well; Live (semi-free for only a little while longer) and learn.

Lump2 Picks up Right Where He Left Off - Winning!

Another Lump2 groupie helping herself to the NPP spa.

And where he left off was walking thru the NPP line up! Check this out.

Lump2 has won the last two NPP tournaments, just missing running down Tomservo2 for the 2nd quarter seat in the NPP finals. He of course sits on top of the 3rd quarter standings now.

Lump2 has won three of the last four NPP tourneys. He has won four of the last seven NPP tourneys! Way to go Lump2. This is not a soft line up you are pushing around either.

The 3rd quarter just started and there is plenty of time for the NPP players to get back in it. And there is still time for you to join if you have not already.

On to the action:

9 min: Derf-73 (16th) sees his (Ac Jc) lose a coin flip to LittleRedElf’s (TT).

12 min: Sanster89 (15th) Missed it playing my hand at another table.

23 min: A double knockout as Theedouble*d (14th) with (88) and Tomservo2 (13th) with (KK) sees Wingsfancurt with (QQ) – make quads!

30 min: Douge2 (10th) Missed it as table closed.

43 min: Duder1123 (9th) gets cold-decked as his (KJ) sees a flop of [5JK], only to see Lump2 show (JJ)! Ouch!

47 min: A SS Mikeniks-Faldo (8th) goes with (22), and LittleRedElf calls with (AK). PokerStars wasted no time in flopping an [A] as Faldo loses the coin flip.

Wingsfancurt 3055

88 min: Suetman123 (3rd) goes with (AQ) and an [A] on the board, but Lump2 has a flush draw with (7d 6d) and hits it on the turn.

3rd Quarter Starts Tuesday! Be There or Be Square

Time to leave the pool and get back to the NPP felt.

NPP starts the 3rd quarter action on Tuesday July 10. The tournament is posted now for entry.

If you have not joined NPP, here is your chance to get in on a new start to a 12 week poker league. Simply email Faldo at the address shown in the header, with your real name, and your PokerStars handle. That is all you have to do.

This is a league with great people and great players. Lots of fun and lots of serious tournament practice. What else are you doing on a Tuesday night?

If you have been playing and stepped away, now is the time to jump back in. You have had your fling with summer. It's time to pretend there is nothing to do on the boat, backyard or golf course on Tuesday night, except to play some practice poker on line. Winter will be here before you know it....so act like it is here already!

If you are a regular, thank you for your dedication to NPP. Faldo know that on some Tuesdays with life's ups and downs, dragging yourself to the felt to do battle with the sharks of NPP is not always your top priority. But you gut it out for the good of the league. Again, thank you.

So, with that said, sign up, register for the tournament on Tuesday........and then let Faldo win for once!

No NPP Tourney Tonight!

And she was all set to cheer Faldo to victory too.

Anyway, since the Supreme Liberal Activist Judges Who Would not Know the Constitution if it was Read to Them Court took away our freedom, our health, life, liberty and any chance of happiness,

Faldo granted us all the night off to reflect on the death of the United States. And so close to it's birthday too.

Ironic eh?

Find Your Copy of the Constitution – Then Wipe Your Ass with It

Democrats enjoying freedom in the United States

That is what the Supreme Court just did. If it is good enough for five communists to do that with it, you might as well get a little benefit from the piece of paper too.
It only used to be the greatest document in the history of the world, written by our founding fathers with the hand of God.
But that was before. Before women got the vote, before the New Deal, before Social Security, before The Great Society, before the War on Poverty, before the undeclared War on Iraq, and before our voters elected an admitted communist to the White House.
Wipe your ass with the Constitution, before the government taxes you for having it and then orders you to burn it. Quick, while it still has some value.
Faldo started receiving text messages almost immediately.
American #1 –“The Supreme Court just fxxxed the country in the ass.”
Faldo – “I already told you- guns, butter and bullets.”
American #2 – “Fxxxing liberals on the Supreme Court!”
Faldo – “It is time to openly declare war on liberals. They have been at war with Americans for 80 years. Time for us to engage the enemy.”
American #3 – “I didn’t see that coming. I thought they would strike it down.”
Faldo – “You overestimate the brains, morals and ethics of liberals.”
American #4 – “Well, the country is done now.”
Faldo – to quote Teddy KGB, “Don’t worry son. It will all be over soon.”
American #5 – “November just became more important.”
Faldo – “Less important. It’s over.”
American #6 – “Romney has to win now so he can repeal it.”
Faldo – “Are you out of your mind? Romney wrote it. The Supreme Court blessed it. The Republicans will start the mantra that they will do it ‘smarter.’
American #7 – “Scary times ahead.”
Faldo – “The beginning of the end is always scary.”
American #8 – “I just heard about the ruling and I am honestly getting physically sick to my stomach.”
Faldo – “That feeling is stress for not beating the shit out of liberals who desperately need it. At the very least, shun them all. At the most…..well there is no most as to what to do with traitors.”
Faldo to recap:
I listened to Rush today. All he did was off-handedly discuss the possibility that Judge Roberts was “gotten to”, like the mob would get to a Capone jury member. But he was also careful to point out – it is not him saying this, and – that this is what he only read on the blogs. Three full hours of this!
Thanks Rush for working with the enemy, while making millions, by keeping the conservatives under control. Keep talking and assuring us that we still have time to save the country. Rush, this is nice work you are doing for the enemy.
We are all just frogs being slowly boiled to death in a pot of water the liberals turn the heat up on - one degree at a time.
Rush Limbaugh is working hard to keep the conservatives in the pot, and not rushing (pun intended) out of it and fighting for our country.
Its ok to cry while wiping. I did.

T3chlady - The 1st Lady of Freedom in the Socialist Republic of Ann Arbor

God bless T3chlady and all her friends!
T3chlady threw a BBQ for Freedom Fighters in the heart of the liberal beast this weekend at her Ann Arbor family estate.
A crowd of staunch conservatives converged to discuss the freeing of our nation from Democrat communist bondage. There were lots of lively discussions, but very little debate. After all, what is there to debate? Liberals are mentally ill, our nation has been destroyed by 70 years of liberal politics, and it is way past time to WAKE UP, take a stand and stop it.
Entertainment was brought to us by A2 Magic (a2magic dot com). It was an outstanding show and Faldo recommends them highly. FYI, T3chlady turned down the offer for Faldo to provide the entertainment. Go figure.
In addition, we were broken into teams and played a Constitution version of “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader,” which only proved Faldo is not. But it was a lot of fun.
Dinner was served and Faldo’s steak served to repair the embarrassment of displaying my kindergarten brain.
But the highlight of the BBQ in Faldo’s opinion was the guest appearance of Thayrone X – talk radio star of WAAM 1600 – Ann Arbor! If you have not listened to Thayrone 3pm to 6pm, you are missing some of the most compelling and educational radio there is.
His show is called “On the Edge with Thayrone” – and it is truly on the cutting edge, while our nation and freedoms are on the edge of a cliff.
I wish to thank everyone I met there for an enjoyable evening, and of course special thanks to T3chlady for hosting it.
On a poker note, T3chlady showed Faldo and Rjmech the poker room she is building in her basement.
And yes, RJ is on the Walk of Fame – and all of us should be thankful he is not playing on Tuesday night. Two LittleRedElf type players Faldo doesn’t need! Faldo is just kidding about not needed great poker players. COME BACK to NPP RJ!
T3 said it will be done soon and invitations to some poker games are in the offing. Nice!

Amarillo Slim – RIP

Amarillo Slim drew people to poker before there were other reasons to play.
The winner of the first World Series of Poker – dead at 83.
Thomas Preston started out as a pool hustler, then turned poker player. He joined the likes of Doyle Brunson and Brian “Sailor” Roberts on Texas poker circuit, and forming a partnership with them.
The story is that Amarillo broke Doyle and Sailor and loaned them $2500 – enough to get home. The re-paid loan built a trust, and soon the three were sharing a bankroll and playing poker across the country and betting sports.
It was Amarillo Slim who first put poker in the national spotlight, appearing on the Johnny Carson Show (Tonight Show) ELEVEN times! You have to be able to spread the manure pretty well to do that.
Here is a list of Slim’s best one liners:
“You can shear a sheep many times, but you can skin them only once.”
“If there is something worth arguing about, bet on it or shut up.”
“That boy couldn’t track an elephant in four feet of snow.”
“If it was raining soup, he would be out there with a fork.”
“I knocked that off like a dead limb.”
“It was warmer than a widow woman’s love.
“Very seldom do the lambs slaughter the butcher.”
“All trappers don’t wear fur caps.
“She’s as pretty as a speckled pup under a red wagon.”
“What he smelled cookin, wasn’t even on the stove.”
“I had so many chips that a show dog couldn’t jump over them.”
“He’d put a rattlesnake in your pocket, and then ask you for a match.”
Rest easy Slim.

Cpadanj Wins His 1st NPP Tourney

Irina Sheik offered Cpadanj the shirt off her back.

Cpadanj becomes the 67th person to win an NPP tournament, joining a list of great poker players. The NPP Wall of Fame lists them all, and Cpadanj joins them tonight! Congratulations Dan!
The 2nd Quarter has one round to play and it will boil down to a two-person race really. Can Tomservo2 hold off T3chlady?
T3chlady will need to win – against a good size field – and with Tomservo2 not getting any points.

Nik Faldo Gets Letters – Today: “She’s all Wet!”

Marissa Miller waits for Faldo's orders.
I am getting so many of these letters I need to make answering them a weekly installment. Helping my public manage their relationships is the least I can do.

Dear Mr. Faldo,

My wife does not like it when I smoke a cigar outside while watering the flowers. Do you have any advice for me?

Signed,
Getting Hassled

Dear Hassled,
I have to tell you something. It is a little rude of you to smoke a cigar so close to where your wife is doing her chores, like watering the flowers. But I know watching women do their chores is very relaxing. I am a fan of it myself.
But if you want to spoil her, you should have had her set you up a comfortable chair for the front porch, and a hammock or padded recliner for the back yard. That way you can smoke your cigar on the side of the house she is not watering.
Yes, it is true that letting her decide where you get to smoke your cigar on certain days may get some getting used to. But sometimes it is good to let wives make a few harmless decisions once in a while. Not that it is important, but it does seem to make them happier.
If this kind treatment of your wife backfires, as it sometimes does - and your wife starts to think her opinion matters - simply withhold sex until she starts behaving herself again.

Douge2's Humor Column - Good Intentions Gone Wrong

A Homeless Man’s Funeral

As a bagpiper, I play many gigs. Recently I was asked by a funeral director to play at a graveside service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper's cemetery in the Kentucky back country.

As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a typical man, I didn't stop for directions. I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had evidently gone and the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were eating lunch.

I felt badly and apologized to the men for being late. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn't know what else to do, so I started to play. The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends.

I played like I've never played before for this homeless man.

And as I played 'Amazing Grace,' the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. When I finished I packed up my bagpipes and started for my car. Though my head hung low, my heart was full.

As I opened the door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, "I never seen nothin' like that before and I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty years."

Apparently I'm still lost....

A Golfer’s Woe

A golfer was involved in a terrible car crash and was rushed to the hospital. Just before he was put under, the surgeon popped in to see him.
"I have some good news and some bad news," says the surgeon.
"The bad news is that I have to remove your right arm!"
"Oh God no!" cries the man. "My golfing is over! Please Doc, what's the good news?"
"The good news is, I have another one to replace it with, but it's a woman's arm. I'll need your permission before I go ahead with the transplant."
"Go for it doc" says the man. "As long as I can play golf again."
The operation went well and a year later the man was out on the golf course when he bumped into the surgeon.
"Hi, how's the new arm?" asks the surgeon.
"Just great," says the businessman. "I'm playing the best golf of my life. My new arm has a much finer touch and my putting has really improved."
"That's great," said the surgeon.
"Not only that," continued the golfer, "my handwriting has improved, I've learned how to sew my own clothes and I've even taken up painting landscapes in watercolors."
"Unbelievable!" said the surgeon, "I'm so glad to hear the transplant was such a great success. Are you having any side effects?"

"Well, just one problem," said the golfer. "Every time I get an erection, I also get a headache.

Lump2 Wins His 3rd NPP Tourney

Lisa Dergan in the NPP locker room.
Lump2 took no prisoners as he eliminated over half the field en-route to his victory. He also is putting himself in the Total Points race. Not that he will need that for a seat in the finals if he keeps playing like this. He will win the 3rd or 4th quarter!
It might be a little late to catch the leaders of the 2nd quarter. Tomservo2 has a healthy lead, but not a safe one. There are still a few players with a shot of catching up.
Anyway, it will be a real exciting finish in the last two rounds!
PS: Lots of hands ran into (AA) tonight and American Airlines held up.
On to the action:

27 min: 95corolla (11th) has kicker problems against Lump2.

45 min: A SS Wingsfancurt (8th) has to go with (QJ) and runs into Lump2’s (AQ).
46 min: A SS Derf-63 (7th) has to go with (44) and runs into T3chlady’s (AA).
55 min: 8thmile (6th) has to go with (AK) and gets run down by the PokerStars Break Monster as Lump2 catches a straight on the river.
