It's Not About Poker Folks - It's About Control, Power and Money
Faldo's comments in [ BOLD ]
From the Pokerati blog:
Can you please give me the cliffs of what happened today? [Freedom was crushed and wealth confiscated yet again by the Obama regime]
Indictment - Eleven defendants including the founders of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker were charged by the U.S. government with “bank fraud, money laundering, and illegal gambling offenses.”
This is the press statement released by the Department of Justice.
Those indicted:
Isai Sheinberg, Paul Tate -> PokerStars -> status: not in States
Raymond Bitar, Nelson Burtnick -> Full Tilt Poker -> status: not in States
Scott Tom, Brent Beckley -> Absolute Poker -> status: not in States
Ryan Lang, Ira Rubin ->”payment processor” -> status: not in States
Bradley Franzen -> “payment processor” -> expected for arraignment
Chad Elie ->”payment processor” -> arrested in Las Vegas
John Campos-> SunFirst Bank -> arrested in Utah
Domain Seizure [This is the freedom killer and real issue. When Egypt's revolution started, the government shut down the internet. Obama asked but one question, "How did they do it?" And sent agents over to find out.]
Five poker domains were seized by the government, and these are in the process being redirected to a Department of Justice notice. Not everyone in all of the states are receiving this graphic yet because it can take up to 24 hrs for the DOJ entries to update depending on location.
Domains seized: pokerstars.com, fulltiltpoker.com, ub.com. ultimatebet.com, absolutepoker.com.
[So much for States rights....and worse, states not fighting for their rights...again]
Civil Suit
The United States also filed a civil suit against the poker companies, their assets, and the assets of several of their payment processors.
Civil suit
Restraining Orders Against Accounts
Restraining orders were issued against more than 75 bank accounts utilized by the Poker Companies and their payment processors.
[Can I get a CHA-CHING!!! Two winners allowed in this situation - lawyers and the government. Period.
And I think this story is not only related, but the jist of what happened]:]
LAS VEGAS, April 15, 2011—Wynn Resorts, Limited announced today that it terminated its alliance with PokerStars, the online poker company. The decision was reached as a result of the indictment unsealed by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
[I smell set up. PokerStars got snookered and Steve Wynn is just another government rat. The 'partnership' allowed Wynn access to the information of where and how PokerStars did business in the USA. Once the Feds had that, the rest is now history. Full Tilt also got in bed with a Las Vegas casino as a "marketing move".
Steve Wynn gets into the partnership with these 'known criminal enterprises', and gets a 'Get Out of Indictment Free' card by issuing a press release????
I say it was a set up.
Casinos everywhere are winners in this action against ex-citizens/now subjects.
This is one of the many set ups going on right now. Fake conservative politicians (Trump for one) and even some conservative media types (more on this later) are running big scams to keep the lid on, in my never humble - and almost never wrong - opinion.]

Does this kill our league?
For now it does.. its a shame
Punk
It sure is....I am going to miss all of you!
Online Poker will be back, there is too much money at stake for it to be killed off.
All the government has to do is legalize it. Again there is too much money involved for them not to.
All this does is put an emphasis on Mike to organize the Live NPP events for frequently.
Angry Punk
What is the following graphic you are referring to: Taylor Swift?
I never liked poker anyway.
Maybe you all can play Bridge or something else instead. I hear they play alot of Bridge over in the UK, I wonder if it has anything to do with London.
You know, London Bridge...
Yes Punk. We are going to have to organize some NPP events at least bi-monthyly until all this gets straightened out.
I wrote about this before. I mentioned to be careful what you wish for when it is legalized. Between the increased rake and the 1099 issued for a $20 tournament cash, how profitable will it all be?
Government regulation is a good thing. Look at all of the happiness that we get from bank regulation. And don't forget about the fine work from the dept of energy. I love $4 gas. I could be spending a lot more on car maintenance and tires if gas were cheaper.

Does anybody know if I could open a bank account in Windsor and use those funds to play?
Dear Anon,
You can open the account to help the ease of transferring money.
However, most of the big sites are shut down to US players regardless of how the site is funded.
There is debate over who has shut the sites down - whether the poker sites did it voluntarily or whether the US government blocked the internet.
The only way it makes sense that the sites shut down voluntarily, is that they already have a quasi-plea deal where some of their funds were released back to them if they complied with blocking US players.
Or in the event of a conviction, the penalty will be a slap on the wrist for the proper amount of campaign contributions to the proper places. This seems the most likely - and none of this will be reported anywhere.
The other option is that the US government has shut down the internet to some poker sites and has put a false front up to make it look like the poker site did it.
This will not be reported either. If you have not noticed, our media IS the government.
Either way, it stinks to high heaven - but business as usual for our "public servants" - ie, our rulers.
just like a year ago ..... just hold tight ... we will play soon .... remember the $$ in the account
you would need a canadian address plus I think a social insurance number (I know I have to punch in my social insurance number in any time I make a deposit through echecks). I haven't deposited with a credit card, but I think again you need a "canadian" credit card that is tied to a canadian address. so I don't think it would be as simple to open a bank account in windsor.
A nation of sheep will get a government of wolves. - me
Screw the mother fr's who own the big poker sites. They riped everyone off including our gov. which is us duh. Those who continued to accept our (USA) players money after Pres.Bush outlawed it should be imprisoned for a long f'n time and fined way more than 250,000 How about 250,000 for every single count guilty on. We should send th CIA into the isle of man and where ever else the executives are hiding and bring them to justice.
Greg, how long have you been an anti-freedom and anti-capitalist - in addition to an IRS agent?
