From our glorious league leader, K9isadog:
“First, it was a great event held by Stacey and Kevin. The tourney had 18 entries, knockout chips, a juicy cash game complete with :"Fast Eddie" castle of chips, plus mighty good eats. Poker players were better than most casino, online or charity events, so deep stack play was put to the test. (Ed. Note: But, for those that already were not - were they NPP material?)
Kevin bubbled in his own tournament. Stacey took fourth and $60 prize that she put to good use in the cash game.
After a long period of let's see if they can take out the small stack out (K9isadog) before chopping, the three players (floor manager at Sharks Club and one of his better players, Nick) offered a $250 chop with an extra $90 to the winner. I took advantage of this new arrangement because I was the small stack at one point with only 10K stack to 80k and 70k walls of chips respectively.
I rope a dope and folded my way to doubling up three times when the fat stacks already were counting the cash game with their winnings. They already figured it would a $370 apiece once I was gone. It was a reluctant chopped on their part because they thought I was cooked several times.
I eventually crippled a large stack when I called him with (AJ suited) against his (55) against [KK8] when I hit my flush on the river. He thought it was a bad call because I checked my flush draw and one over against his pocket pair.
I called because if he had a K, he wouldn't go all in and if he had two 8 and even one good luck. I crippled him, then when it was over when his buddy was in the big blind was forced to call his all in for 2000 more or the fix would have been really evident. I played the next hand on a show down when I was given 50/40 chopped and won it.
That was the first knock out chip I won, goes to show you don't need to knock any one out on your way to a victory in a tournament, just the last one.
Who knows how it would played out if we didn't agree to chop 3 ways but it took me a long time to achieve a neutral status and they were aggravated with me.
I announced when offer the chop that I would loosen up a bit, and that's when I called his all in with 55 against my flush and overs.
It is an interesting debate if not offered a chopped would I have called or not, any debate club members and blog readers?” – K9isadog
Thank you for the great report, K9isadog and congratulations on a great comeback.
And to Yecats and xxxKdogxxx, it sounds like you throw one heck of a home game. Props to you. Thank you for inviting your NPP brothers and sisters, and it sounds like a “must” stop by for Faldo next time. But please schedule the next one on a non – UFC pay per view night.
For instance, July 3, Faldo will be riveted to the TV for the Brock Lesnar – Shane Carwin fight. That will be a must see. - Faldo
