A Republican got out at a farm to give a campaign speech. The farmer and his wife were impressed because they had never seen a Republican in that Democrat county before. The candidate asked if he could give his stump speech to the couple. The Democrat farmer said he didn't have a stump and the only thing higher than the dirt they were standing on was a pile of cow and horse manure the farmer had dumped by the side of the road.
So, the politician climbed to the top of the smelly heap and gave his speech.
After he was finished, the farmer said, "I am impressed with what you had to say and that was the first time I ever actually heard the Republican platform."
And the Republican politician said, "Thank you very much, and that was the first time I ever gave a speech on top of the Democrat platform."
